September 15th-October 15th is known as Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. During this time I will post various items for you to read and research. This week in class we will discuss what Hispanic Heritage month is all about, what does the word Hispanic mean and why is it important for us to understand the impact that the Hispanic culture has had on our own culture. To start off with, what things can you think of that are a part of our culture but have their origin from Spanish speaking countries?

Hi Ms. Blair, this is Keneisha Garrett. I think we have accepted a lot of customs from the Spanish, Mexican, and Hispanic communities. We took on their way of eating. For example: nachos, special dips, salsa, and tacos, just to name a few. We also took on a couple of fashion ideas. We also mix up a little taste of their music into ours.

Hispanic means you are from a country that speaks spanish and are currently living in the United States. In our country, we adopt other customs, values, beliefs, and religions. We get much of our culture from the Hispanics since there are so many living in America. We get food, dances, music, and even some beliefs from spanish speaking countries. We also acknowledge some holidays that are celebrated my Spanish speaking people; for example, Cinco De Mayo.

To me hispanic means that you are spanish but live in the united states. we have inherited a to of differnt ways of life from hispanic people like food that we eat clothes that we wear and even words that we say. that is what i believe hispanic is and how they have affected our way of life.

Hey ms.Blair, it's Nicole. I think that hispanic means that, you speak spanish. You don't have to be from Mexico, or any Hispanic country. Their family might be hispanic, and they probably speak spanish also, but some people as more family are produced, the child, when they grow up might not know how to speak spanish. But they are still considered hispanic.

Hola Sra. Blair this is Jayme Shephard. The Hispanic culture has impacted our culture alot. We have many words in our language that have Spanish origins. We also have adopted many foods, drinks, names, clothing styles, and religious beliefs from the Hispanic culture.
